Details of the Detention Conditions of Female Prisoners in Damon Prison

 December 22, 2024

The Palestinian Prisoners and Released Prisoners Affairs Authority revealed today in a statement that the poor detention conditions for female prisoners in Damon Prison continue, alongside escalating retaliatory and unethical policies in dealing with the female prisoners to inflict all forms of psychological and physical harm on our honorable detainees.

The Authority's lawyer reported today, Sunday, that the female prisoners suffer from poor food quality provided to them, including "undercooked rice and bread not fit for human consumption." In terms of quantity, the food barely suffices for them to stay alive, and the poor quality has led to illnesses among the prisoners. Despite the bad food, they try to fast throughout the day and collect food for the evening hours to sustain themselves.

The female prisoners face extremely bad treatment, including daily room searches by male and female guards, accompanied by humiliating treatment where they are "dragged" and their belongings, including shoes, are confiscated.

Additionally, the female prisoners lack personal cleaning materials and cleaning supplies for their rooms.

Several prisoners informed the Authority’s lawyer that the duration of their outdoor break is one hour, and sometimes they are denied this break. The prison administration provides each prisoner with a blanket and a winter jacket.
