Detainee Osama Id’ais Underwent an Amputation of His Left Leg

December 16, 2024 – Prisoners’ Media Office

Detainee Osama Amin Id’ais (34 years old), from Hebron, is facing a difficult and concerning health situation after having his left leg amputated above the knee. He was shot by Israeli occupation forces during an attempt to arrest him on September 9, 2024, also suffering an additional injury to his abdomen.

Recently, after a delay of more than three months, the occupation finally allowed a lawyer to visit Id’ais at Ofer Prison. Following his arrest, he spent a brief period in Soroka Hospital, where his left leg was amputated above the knee. He was then transferred to the Ramle Prison Clinic, and later to Ofer Prison, where he is currently held.

The occupation’s court has held several sessions for his case, the most recent on December 4, 2024, resulting in another extension of his detention until February 24, 2025.

It is worth noting that Id’ais is a former detainee who was held under administrative detention between 2015 and 2016. This is his second arrest.
