Prisoners' Organizations Issue Special Report on Key Issues and Data Related to the Reality of Prisoners and Detainees in Israeli Prisons in 2024

The Deadliest Year in the History of the Prisoners' Movement

Palestinian Prisoners' Club- 31/12/2024

Prisoners' organizations, including the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, and the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, have issued a special report summarizing the key issues and data concerning the reality of prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons in 2024. This year marks the deadliest in the history of our struggle with the occupation. The report includes an extensive analysis of the data, policies, and horrific crimes committed by the Israeli occupation during its arrest campaigns, particularly in the West Bank. It highlights the escalation of these campaigns and crimes since the onset of the genocide campaign, under the umbrella of comprehensive aggression launched by the Israeli occupation against our people and the ongoing genocide in Gaza for more than 450 days.

The report also outlines major changes affecting prisoners' realities after the war, reflecting transformations the prison system has sought to impose over the years. It documents crimes such as torture against detainees, enforced disappearances targeting Gaza detainees, administrative detention as a hallmark of arrests, and systematic killings of detainees, which have resulted in the martyrdom of 54 prisoners and detainees since the genocide began—of whom 35 were from Gaza. In 2024 alone, 43 prisoners and detainees, whose identities are known, were killed.

This document is based on daily field monitoring of arrest campaigns, reports from legal teams, and dozens of testimonies documented throughout the year.
