Ramallah - The Prisoners' Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club stated that since the beginning of the genocidal war, the Israeli occupation authorities have escalated the arrest of the wounded, whether those who were injured prior to their arrest or those shot during the arrest operation. They have also intensified field executions during the ongoing and unprecedented arrest campaigns.
In a joint report issued on Tuesday, the authority and the club added that Israel detains dozens of injured individuals in extremely harsh and tragic conditions, where the prison administration commits numerous crimes against them, notably medical neglect. Additionally, the injuries of prisoners are used as tools to further abuse and torture them.
According to the authority and the club, several visits by lawyers to injured prisoners in various prisons, such as Megiddo and Ramle, revealed the compounded crimes committed against them from the moment of their arrest, through interrogation, and even after their transfer to prison.
- The authority and the club presented a collection of testimonies from wounded detainees in Israeli prisons.
For example, detainee (M.Z.), currently held in Megiddo prison, reported: "A force from the Israeli army stormed my family's home last March. During my arrest, they blew up the door and severely beat me with their boots and batons. They broke all my upper teeth except for one and continued to beat me all over my body, deliberately targeting the areas where I was already injured, including my right hand, which they ended up breaking."
This detailed account highlights the ongoing physical and psychological abuse faced by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention, particularly those who are already injured.
